Printer (Nōwn POS) - Windows Settings to Make the Printer Work with Nōwn POS
In order to enable your printer with Nōwn the proxy needs to be turned on. Please find the instructions below on how to do this:
Note: It is highly recommended that you bring a mouse when making these changes as it can be difficult to do using the touchscreen.
1. Click on the search bar and type in, File Explorer. Open this folder
2. Click on the arrow pointing down that is beside the Quick Access text.
3. Select POS
4. Click on the App Data folder. If you don’t see the App Data folder please follow the steps below.
a) Go to View tab then click on Options on the upper right part of the screen
b) A new window will pop up, click on the View tab
c) Select show hidden files folders and drives. Press Apply in order to make sure the changes are saved, then click Okay.
d) Click on the App Data folder
5. Once in the App Data folder select the Roaming folder
6. Then select the nown-electron folder
7. Click on the config.json file, it is usually the first file listed after the folders.
8. Once you click on this file the system will ask you what you want to open it with. Select More Apps, then select Notepad.
9. Go all the way to right side of the file, the scroll bar at the bottom of the screen makes this easier.
Find the text that says proxy enabled and change it from false to true.
Make sure that this is the only change you make, nothing else. Do not delete any brackets or other fields as it will cause dangerous consequences and cause the POS to not work. Even deleting one extra character can cause an issue.
10. Close Nõwn and log out. Once you log back in the changes will take effect.
