Enabling Meal Equivalency
Meal equivalency means that you can pay for a basket of items, or an item, with a meal unit instead of a dollar value. You set the scale you wish (ex: $5 = 1 meal unit), and once you do this it means that any purchase you make up to your set amount deducts one meal unit from a patrons meal plan. If you go over that total then it deducts one meal unit and charges the rest in cash or DCB.
Example: the meal equivalency scale is set to $6.50 for one meal unit. A patron buys a sandwich and a drink which totals $5.99, if the items are meal equivalency eligible then a patron can pay for this with a meal unit.
