Service Periods - Creating Service Periods

Service periods are very important because you can limit the amount of times students can use their meals per service period.

Step 1: Go to the homepage of FIIT and click on the Settings tile

Step 2: Once there scroll down and click on Service Periods to expand the field.

Step 3: Select "Add Service Period", fill in the information as outlined in the image below:

Quick charge: If you wish to enable quick charge this means that as soon as a student's meal card is swiped it will automatically charge a meal unit. An example of this is a cafeteria setting where a student swipes their meal card to enter. To enable quick charge make sure that you select it in the image above and that you link it to an item ID. This means that quick charge needs to be linked to an item in your menu, you can find the item ID by looking at your menu.

Note: to link an item to quick charge please ensure that the meal plan eligible toggle for that product is set to ON, this is set in the menu tab. For full instructions on how to do this please click here.

Step 4: Enable meal equivalency if required. Meal equivalency means that you can pay for a basket of items, or an item, with a meal unit. You set the scale you wish (ex: $5 = 1 meal unit), once you do this it means that any purchase you make up to your set amount deducts one meal unit from a patrons meal plan. If you go over that total then it deducts one meal unit and charges the rest in cash or DCB.

To do this just scroll to the bottom of the Add Service Period screen, and fill out the fields as per your requirements. For more information on meal equivalency please click here.

Please repeat for every service period for every location.
