About - What is the difference between Meal Exchange and Meal Equivalency?

Meal Equivalency means trading a meal unit for a dollar value. Example, $10 = 1 meal unit. If you bought 5 items that are all meal equivalency eligible and the basket size was $10, the patron would pay for it with one meal unit.

Meal exchange means trading one item for a meal unit in a direct swap.

In order to set an item as meal exchange or meal equivalency enabled you need to go into  Nōwn POS and set which items are eligible for the method you choose to use. The meal equivalency would have been configured already in FIIT if this location was previously active. If this is a brand new location you may configure meal equivalency as per the following instructions in the back end. Meal exchange does not need to be configured anywhere in the back end.
